An Ishpeming business has joined the effort to allow a high school student to return to the basketball court and the football field next season.
When Eric Dompierre is a senior at Ishpeming High School this fall, he’ll be 19 years old.
That’s too old to play sports under Michigan High School Athletic Association rules.
Yooper Shirts is selling a “Let ‘Em Play” T–shirt in his honor.
Each shirt costs $15, and the proceeds go to a scholarship fund at
Ishpeming High School.
The shirts are selling just as quickly as Yooper Shirts can print them.
Yooper Shirts owner and designer Jeremy Symons says they’ve pretty much blown through the initial order of 100 shirts, and 60 more shirts are going out now to people who’ve ordered while the shirts were out of stock.
The Ishpeming School District is trying to get the MSHAA to allow Eric to play.
Eric’s dad has also created an online petition — you can read and sign it here.
