Candidate Announces Run for House of Representatives 110th District
Ironwood resident William Lucius, has filed the necessary paperwork to seek the office of State Representative for Michigan’s 110th district. He will be running as a Democrat in an election to be held this November.
Lucius is an attorney licensed in Michigan and Wisconsin, specializing in elder law and disability rights. He has served on the Board of Directors for
Gogebic County Department of Human Services, is a past City Commissioner for the City of Ironwood, and is the current Ironwood-Hurley Rotary President.
Lucius is active professionally at the State level as Governing Board member of the Elder Law and Disability Rights Section of the Michigan State Bar, Board member of Elder Law of Michigan, Inc. based in Lansing, and has served on several committees within the Michigan Municipal League.
“I look forward to asking the citizens of the 110th for their trust, support and vote to serve as their next State Representative. As a friend and neighbor to those who are unemployed I recognize that the desire for job creation must transcend catchy campaign slogans and manifest itself into real action. Father of a future student, and husband of a public school teacher, we need a Representative focused on providing the tools and funding necessary to guarantee a quality K-12 and post-secondary education system. And as a counselor to the elderly, disabled, and vulnerable, I know more than most the need to overhaul the support services currently provided by DHS.”
Originally from Lakeland, Florida, Lucius earned Bachelors degrees in Political Science and Philosophy from Elmira College in Elmira, New York, as well as a Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, Florida.
The 29 year old Lucius is married to Stacey Lucius, a 4th grade teacher with the Ironwood Area School District. They have a 2 ½ year old son, Mason, with their second child due this summer.
