Girl Scouts Send Soldiers Cookies

Over the past few weeks, Girl Scouts from a troop in Negaunee learned how helping out a little bit can go a long way.

The Daisy Troop from Lakeview Elementary School, made up of first-graders, collected boxes of donated Girl Scout cookies.

For the second year, they will be sending the cookies to soldiers overseas.

This year, a National Guard which has several Upper Peninsula soldiers in it will get to enjoy the cookies.

Casey Holcomb, a Daisy Scout mom, says the girls also made something special for each package — a hand-written note in each package thanking the soldiers for their service.

The Negaunee VFW post helped cover the cost of shipping the cookies to Afghanistan.
