NMU Self-Acceptance Week

A Northern Michigan University group has just concluded a week of events intended to boost self–esteem across the campus.

NMU Women for Women has just held its third annual Self–Acceptance Week.

Co-president Justine Samek says it’s a series of programs that encourage people to embrace who they are, in spite of imperfections or weaknesses.

The group encouraged visitors to share aspects of themselves that they’ve come to accept.

It also did that in a short film, “Who the ____ Are You?’, that it screened all day today.

Women for Women was formed in 2005 by NMU’s five all–female residence halls.

But the group is open to anyone who wants to do volunteer work to improve the lives of area women.
