Ontonagon Weekend Arrests

St. Patrick’s Day led many police agencies to muster extra patrols to stop drunk or reckless drivers.

The Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Department arrested two drivers, one of whom was wanted elsewhere in the U.P.

Undersheriff Dale Rantala says that sometime on Saturday, deputies arrested a 36-year-old Ontonagon man on an outstanding warrant from Marquette County.

The warrant was for reckless driving and failure to stop at the scene of a property damage accident.

The man is free for now on $500 bond.

He’s scheduled to appear in 96th District Court in Marquette County next Monday, March 26th.

Shortly before 3 Sunday morning, deputies arrested a 54-year-old Ontonagon man for operating while intoxicated.

He’s free on $200 bond and is scheduled to appear in 98th District Court in Ontonagon on April 3rd.

No further information about either case is available at this time.
