Daylight Savings Time & Smoke Detectors

It’s already time for the switch to Daylight Savings Time this weekend.

And along with setting your clocks ahead an hour Saturday night, the Marquette Fire Department is reminding residents to change their smoke detector batteries, too.

Fire Inspector Paul Enrietti recommends changing a smoke detector’s battery every six months to a year, and he says it’s a good idea to have at least one smoke detector on every level of your home.

City of Marquette residents are eligible to receive one free smoke detector battery per family.

The free batteries can be picked up at Fire Station #1 on Third Street.
