LSCP Media Discussion

Business professionals of the Marquette area had a day of learning today, specifically about the media.

A couple dozen members of The Lake Superior Community Partnership’s leadership academy got to ‘meet the press’. Local media professionals on the panel answered questions from the group.

Newspaper, radio and television representatives, including ABC 10 News Director Cynthia Thompson participated. Thompson was joined by WLUC’s Steve Asplund, Bud Sargent from The Mining Journal and Casey Ford from WMQT-107.7 Fm.

The discussion covered broad questions associated with covering news stories. They talked about how local news is generated, what standards are followed and how this market is a training ground for new reporters.

Having this dialogue with business leaders makes it easier for them to share potential news stories.

If you would like to participate in the L–S–C–P Leadership Academy’ applications are available at their office or online at www.marquette.org.

The deadline to apply is July 31st.
