High Speed Snowmobile Chase in Marquette
A 22 year old from Park, Michigan is in police custody today after an overniight high speed chase. Walter Anthony Kalicki III was taken into custody in Marquette about 1:15 this morning. He is being lodged in the Marquette County Jail facing charges of Operating While Intoxicated and third degree Fleeing and Eluding.
According to Marquette City Police, the charges stem from a high speed pursuit on a snowmobile that started on West Washington Street in Marquette. Officials say Kalicki was not wearing a helmet. And, he reached speeds about 70 miles per hour.
Kalicki fled from two Marquette City Police officers, disregarding activated over–head lights, verbal commands and hand signals to pull over.
Officials say the suspect attempted to gain access to a building after stopping in a parking lot on Lakeshore Boulevard. The doors were locked and he was unable to gain entry.
Kalicki is facing up to five years and/or a $1000 fine.
