U.P. Results of Presidential Primary

Mitt Romney won the Michigan Republican Presidential Primary, but did not win the Upper Peninsula. Although the numbers are unofficial until verified by the Secretary of State, the preliminary tally of the Michigan Presidential Primary from February 28 is in. 1,191,288 Michigan voters went to the polls. 79,544 residents turned out to vote in the First Congressional District, which includes all of Upper Michigan.

While candidate Rick Santorum won the First Congressional District over Mitt Romney 28,890 to 26,586, the U.P. county breakdown of the Republican and Democratic votes for the frontrunners is:
