Not one, but two business advocacy organizations turned out today to celebrate the opening of a new Marquette County venture.
Northern Michigan Bank and Trust held a ribbon-cutting ceremony this afternoon for its new Ishpeming branch.
The Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce and the Lake Superior Community Partnership showed up for the event.
Northern Michigan Bank and Trust northern district president E.J. Kostreva says since the bank didn’t previously have a presence in western Marquette County, Ishpeming seemed like a good place to come.
The new branch opened in late January, and the property was once the home of a gas station.
The old building was demolished and cleaned up last year in a Marquette County Brownfield Redevelopment Authority project.
