Houghton Home Invasion Arraignment
A downstate man is facing felony charges in the Upper Peninsula.
21–year-old Chase Everett of Ingham County was arraigned today in Houghton on one count of second-degree home invasion.
It carries a possible 15-year sentence and/or a $3,000 fine if there’s a conviction.
Everett was also charged with assaulting, obstructing, or resisting a police officer — a two-year felony and/or $2,000 fine.
Police say Everett was banging on the door of a residence in Houghton when a woman inside the home called police.
The suspect then entered through the back door and the woman threatened Everett with a knife.
The incident happened at about 2 am on Tuesday.
Officers were able to subdue and arrest Everett at the scene.
His blood alcohol level was reportedly 0.215%, more than two-and-a-half times the legal limit.
Prosecutors say Everett doesn’t know the victim, adding that Everett may have gone to the wrong house.
A preliminary exam is scheduled for March 12th.
