The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality wants public feedback on the proposed new truck route in the Kennecott Eagle Mine project.

The agency is holding a public hearing in Ishpeming tomorrow night.

The hearing will take place at 6 pm at the Country Village Banquet and Conference Center.

The Marquette County Road Commission has applied for a series of DEQ permits that would allow them to build the road.

Rio Tinto would pay for the construction and maintenance.

County Road 595 would be 21 miles long.

It would connect US–41 in Humboldt with County Road AAA in Michigamme.

Rio Tinto would use the road to transport ore from the Eagle Mine to the Humboldt Mill for processing.
