Marquette Business Grand Openings

The U.P. 200, the Midnight Run and the Jack Pine 30 make this a big weekend for sled dog teams in Upper Michigan.

The mushers and the dogs will stay warm, but for spectators, it can get a little chilly at the downtown festivities.

If you’re looking to get out of the cold for the U.P. 200 festivities tonight, a downtown Marquette business has something new.

A new shop will be serving hot chocolate, cider and soup tonight during the ceremonial start of the Midnight Run.

Gourmet Girl has been open since September, but owner Lisa Byrnes says she’s holding a grand opening celebration tonight to encourage people to have a cup of coffee and stay warm.

It’s more than just a pastry and coffee shop.

Gourmet Girl also offers specialty catering and options for gluten-free and vegetarian diets.

It’s located in the Masonic Square building which is turning into a thriving group of businesses.

Another business in the same building is the new Marquette Yoga Center, which is also celebrating a grand opening tonight.
