Tech Men lose basketball game to Hillsdale

HILLSDALE, Mich. – The No. 20 Hillsdale men’s basketball team finished with a 38-18 advantage in points in the paint in a 91-69 win over Michigan Tech Saturday (Jan. 28). The 91 points was the most the Huskies (10-9, 8-4 GLIAC) have given up this season.

The Chargers shot 70-percent (21-30) from the floor in the first half for a 50-32 advantage at halftime. Hillsdale also out-scored the Huskies 41-37 in the second half.

All five starters for the Chargers scored in double figures including Tyler Gerber who finished with a game-high 18.

Freshman Phil Romback paced the Huskies with a career-high 16 points, thanks to a career-high five 3-pointers. The Black Creek, Wis., native shot 5-of-7 from behind the arc.

Sophomore Ben Stelzer finished with 12 points, and senior Mike Hojnacki had 10.

Hillsdale’s defense also excelled in the contest finishing with seven steals and seven blocks.

Tech finished with five steals and one block.

Tech will host Findlay Thursday (Feb. 2).
