Torch Light Trek
The Noquemanon Ski Marathon is this weekend, but young people who’d like to get their first taste of cross–country skiing can do that in Ishpeming later this week.
The annual Torch Light Trek takes place Thursday night.
Kids have a chance to ski the trail from the corner of Main and Pearl Streets to Lakeshore drive.
Ishpeming Business Association chair Charlie Anderson says this is the only time all year that city public works crews bring snow into downtown instead of trucking it out.
You can bring your own equipment if you like, but Wilderness Sports is providing free youth rentals to introduce the sport to younger skiers.
The free event starts at 6 pm Thursday on South Main Street in Ishpeming and runs until 8.
