Howling winds and blowing snow were the order of the day as the Lake Superior lake effect snow machine kicked into high gear.
Lake effect snow blanketed the areas closest to the lake with anywhere from four to eight inches. The storm still dumped even more in some of the outlying and higher elevation areas. three to four inches was common in western and southern Marquette County, southern Alger County and Baraga County.
The snow wasn’t the biggest problem. It was the strong winds that reduced visibility to near zero at times.
