Ceadarville Man Charged with Embezzlement

A Cedarville man has been charged with embezzlement of between $20,000 and $50,000. According to the Michigan State Police at the St. Ignace Post, 37 year old Jonathon Allen Ruthruff is charged with one count of embezzlement. He faces ten years in prison on the felony charge. Fines range from $15,000up to three times the amount embezzled. Police say the owner of the Cedarville Ace Hardware Store had shortages in cash revenues at the store since shortly after Ruthruff was hired in 2010. The investigation discovered that the suspect had been entering fictitious returns in the register and pocketing the cash. Ruthruff has been arraigned on the charges in 92nd Judicial Court. He has a pre–trial hearing on January 18th.
