'Cats Goalie named CCHA Goaltender of the month

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The Central Collegiate Hockey Association announced today that Northern Michigan sophomore Jared Coreau has been named the Gongshow Goaltender of the Month for December.

Coreau appeared in four games for the Wildcats during the month of December and posted a 3-1-0 mark, a 1.35 goals-against average and a .956 save percentage.

The sophomore from Perth, Ont., allowed just one goal in each of his three starts in December, including a 2-1 win over Miami on Dec. 2. He had 37 saves in a 2-1 win at Lake Superior on Dec. 9 and made 18 saves in relief in a 6-3 loss the following night against the Lakers. Against Michigan Tech on Dec. 16, Coreau had 28 saves in a 4-1 win.

The 6-foot-5, 200-pound goaltender currently ranks sixth in the CCHA in GAA (2.13) and is tied for third in the league in save percentage (.925).

Special mention for the Gongshow Goaltender of the Month honors goes to Michigan senior Shawn Hunwick, Michigan State senior Drew Palmisano, Ohio State senior Cal Heeter and Western Michigan freshman Frank Slubowski.
