Overnight Gas Price Spike

Gas prices have jumped about 20 cents from yesterday.

Motorists in Marquette County were greeted with posted gas prices averaging about $3.48 today.

And there’s talk of even higher prices by summer — as high as $5 a gallon.

According to AAA, the national average for a gallon of regular is $3.25 compared to $3.07 this time last year.

Just yesterday, gas was in the $3.25 range in the central U.P.

In the past 24 hours, the lowest prices were in Detroit at $3.15 a gallon for regular self-serve gas.

The highest gas prices were in Ferndale $3.79 a gallon.
