Local Film Series Raises Public Awareness
A public film series continued tonight in the hopes of raising awareness about the possibility of a future without oil.
Transition Marquette County is a group of environmentally minded upper michigan residents.
TMC is the host of the series held at Peter White Public Library.
The goal is to spark community interest in order to learn and prepare for what the future may hold.
Tonight the film of choice was “The End of Suburbia”
One of the first films that drew attention to what’s known as “Peak Oil.”
The series has gained a lot of community attention often attracting upwards of 50 viewers.
The films are shown on the last Wednesday of each month in the Peter White Public Library Community Room.
The next showing will be “The End of Poverty” and takes place on January 25th.
