Free Flu Vaccine
The Marquette County Health Department says the end of the calendar year is the peak time for colds and flu.
Staff at the Health Department clinic say many residents have been asking recently if there are any doses of free flu vaccine.
There are.
For the second year in a row, a Pennsylvania–based vaccine manufacturer has sent some free doses.
Jean Reynolds, a registered nurse with the clinic, says they received 100 doses several weeks ago.
It’s a new type of vaccine that was FDA-approved this year, but it was already available outside the U.S. for some time.
The vaccine itself is free, but there’s an $8 administrative charge.
The free vaccine is only available for adults age 18 to 64.
Regular vaccine is approved for anyone who’s at least 6 months old.
