Ex-Police Chief Sues Ishpeming
Ishpeming’s fired former police chief is suing the city for wrongful termination and retaliatory discharge.
Longtime Chief Jim Bjorne is seeking back pay, the value of lost fringe benefits and other costs.
He was fired in september for alleged insubordination and misconduct.
The City Council denied bjorne a transfer of service time earlier this year which would have allowed Bjorne to retire in April with a full pension.
Supporters of Bjorne are collecting signatures for a recall petition against the three City Council members who denied Bjorne’s request.
