Presque Isle Marina Project Changes

The Presque Isle Marina project was slated to begin this coming spring.

But due to unforeseen issues with the plans first phase the project outline will need to be revamped.

Funding and permits are in place to start “dredging” the Presque Isle Marina.

It is the first phase of the five phase improvement plan.

However the city has learned that the dredging process could cause shifting to the current piers, creating a public safety hazard.

Tonight a special meeting was held to get input from members of the presque isle park advisory committee, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, the Harbor Advisory Committee and community members.

Many of the communities boat owners were on hand to give their opinions on how the city should go forward.

Assistant City Manager Karl Zueger says the next step will be talking to the state about possible funding issues.

The City will also review tonight’s comments and input from the public.

Another public meeting to discuss the options further will be scheduled for the near future.
