NMU Volleyball signs 3 players for next season

MARQUETTE, Mich.- Northern Michigan volleyball head coach Dominic Yoder has announced the signing of three high school seniors to play for the Wildcats in 2012. Alexandra Berger, Miranda Hilgers and Lisa Studnicka have signed National Letters of Intent.

Alexandra Berger is a 5-5 libero from Shakopee, Minn. She played
volleyball at Shakopee Senior High School under coach Matt Busch.

“She brings a level of confidence, competiveness and defensive desire that could potentially impact our team immediately,” Yoder said.

Berger also plays with the Mizuno Northern Lights 17-Black club team under coach Jared Rendell. She also attended camp at Marshall University.

Miranda Hilgers is a 5-8 setter from Minnetonka, Minn. She played four
years of volleyball at Hopkins High School under coach Vicki Swenson.

“We expect Miranda to strengthen our setting position and she will compete for the setting and defensive specialist position,” Yoder said. “She has an accuracy about her that will impact our team.”

Hilgers plays her club volleyball with the M1 Hopkins Juniors 17-Royal
club. She has attended camps at the M1 Hopkins Juniors, the Northern
Lights Juniors and the University of Michigan.

Lisa Studnicka is a 6-0 outside hitter from Aurora, Ill. She played
volleyball at Waubonsie Valley High School under coach Kristen Stuart.

“Lisa is a strong left side hitter that we are looking to compete for the
vacated spot,” Yoder said.

Studnicka plays her club volleyball with the Sports Performance Volleyball Club 17-Runbird team under coach Stephanie Budde. She as attended camp at the SPVB organization.
