DNR Holds Final Public Forum on Blueberry Ridge

Michigan legislature required the Department of Natural Resources to re–evaluate the Blueberry Ridge Trail System and its restriction of equestrians and Tonight the final public forum was held on the topic.

Following the re–evaluation process the DNR recommended keeping the pathway closed to horse riders.

But the final decision is made by the Natural Resource Commission who had the opportunity to hear comment’s from the public on both sides of the issue.

The original evaluation of equestrian use on the land began in 2005.

At that time a new trail system near Blueberry Ridge was developed for horse use but many rider’s don’t feel the new system is adequate.

The NRC will most likely make a decision on the trails usage restrictions by the end of the year.
