If you’ve driven on M-553 South of Downtown Marquette recently, you may have noticed some new traffic lights in place.
The solar powered lights were installed recently.
They’re very close to Superior Hills Elementary School.
There haven’t been any complaints about speedy traffic in the area.
But the Marquette Area Public Schools asked Mdot to do something.
The lights will be accompanied by new signs saying, ’35 miles per hour when flashing’.
The current signs show a speed limit of 35 at certain times.
It’s tough to read that while driving. The new markers should make it safer for kids and for the parents at the beginning and end of the school day.
