Benishek Shipwreck Museum Bill

Congressman Dan Benishek has introduced a bill to correct a land patent issue for the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum at Whitefish Point.

The bill modifies a patent issued by the Department of Interior in 1998 to reflect a 2002 development plan to improve the facility.

A Senate version of the bill introduced by Senator Carl Levin passed the Senate in October.

Congressman Benishek’s bill was referred to the House Committee on Natural Resources.

Since he is a member of that committee, Benishek hopes to hold a hearing and markup of the bill in the coming months.

Once the bill passes the House, it can be sent to the President to be signed into law.
