Some of the voters in the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community will head to the polls for the annual primary election tomorrow.

The primary will narrow the field of contenders for Tribal Council seats to four from each district in the December general election.

Since only four candidates have registered from the L’Anse District, no primary will be held there.

In the Baraga District, eight candidates have registered. The ballot includes two incumbents… Gary Loonsfoot, Senior, and Isabelle Helene Welsh. The challengers are: Robin Chosa, R-D Curtis, John Davis, Janice Halverson, Carole LaPointe and Dominic Picciano. The top four vote-getters will advance to the general election in December.

Polls will be open at the Ojibwa Senior Citizens Center tomorrow from 10:00 until 6:00.
