Former U.P. Resident Faces Sex Charges
A former area resident is facing charges for allegedly having sex with a minor.
25-year-old Chad Lapoint was arraigned in 97th District Court Monday.
Judge Mark Wisti read the charges to the suspect.
Lapoint is a native of Wisconsin and lives there now. He lived in Houghton County for two years and was an employee at a local franchise of a national restaurant franchise.
If convicted, Lapoint could spend up to 15 years in prison. Bond was set at $100,000. A preliminary hearing will be held in two weeks.
