Fatal Accident Closes Mackinac Bridge
The Mackinac Bridge has re–opened to traffic after a fatal crash this afternoon closed it down for more than three hours.
Troopers from the St. Ignace State Police Post responded to the scene just before 2pm.
A semi truck traveling southbound crossed the center divider, hit a rail and struck the back end of an oncoming vehicle.
The semi driver died in the crash.
Police say the driver may have suffered from a medical emergency.
The bridge re-opened shortly before 5:30.
