DNR Gets Input on Blueberry Ridge Pathway

Michigan legislature requires the Department of Natural Resources to re–evaluate the blueberry ridge trail system and its restriction of equestrians.

Following the re–evaluation process the DNR has recommended keeping the pathway closed to horse riders.

The original evaluation of equestrian use on this land began in 2005.

At that time a new trail system near blueberry ridge was developed for horse use.

After a short presentation of the trails history, use patterns, and the DNR’s recommendation.

Audience members were given the opportunity to voice their opinions on the matter.

A final decision on the trails usage restrictions will be made by the natural resource commission later this year.

That meeting is also open for public comment.
