NMU Board of Trustees Approves Budget

Budget cuts make for some adjustments at Northern Michigan University.

The Board of Trustees today approved a $103.5 million general fund operating budget for the current fiscal year.

That’s down more than $2 million from last year.

NMU president Dr. Les Wong says the board is also interested in ways that the university can improve how it markets and promotes itself.

The board also approved the capital outlay project request for fiscal 2013.

And it approved the five–year master plan that includes renovating Jamrich Hall, replacing the roof on the Superior Dome and the building of a biomass co-generation project.

The trustees elected Brian Cloyd to a second year as chair and Jon LaSalle as vice-chair for 2012.
