MI Unemployment Dropping

In August, 31 counties in Michigan had unemployment rates of less than 10%.

And the U.P. as a whole is showing improvement.

A year ago, there was double-digit unemployment for the Upper Peninsula.

That slid to just under 10% in July, and last month it hit 9.5%.

Unemployment rates dropped in all of Michigan’s 17 major labor markets.

The Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget says the unadjusted rate for August was 11%.

That’s down from 11.9% in July and 12% in August of last year.
