A teenage girl from Gwinn is recovering at Marquette General tonight after falling from a cliff at Presque Isle in Marquette.
The girl’s name is not being released, but city police say she is 17 years old.
She was walking around the island with friends shortly before 12 noon today and stepped too close to the edge of a sandy cliff.
She slipped and fell off the cliff, plunging to the base, anywhere from 80 to 100 feet below.
Police say she did not land in the water.
Firefighters rappelled down the rock face and stabilized her until a Coast Guard boat could get there.
Her condition at MGH isn’t being released, either, but police say she is conscious and is being treated.
