Chassell Man Killed by Bear at Yellowstone

It was a bear that killed a Chassell man in Yellowstone National Park on Friday.

Authorities say hikers found 59-year-old John Wallace dead on a trail Friday morning.

Wallace was traveling alone and had pitched a tent in a park campground sometime Wednesday.

Rangers discovered signs of grizzly bear activity at the scene Friday afternoon.

Results from an autopsy conducted Sunday concluded that Wallace died from traumatic injuries that he sustained in a bear attack.

The area of the attack has now been closed to hikers.
