Out of state man dies in chainsaw accident in Western Upper Michigan.
The Marquette County sheriff’s office responded to a call in republic township around 11 this morning where a 44 year old
Ohio man was found dead in an apparent chainsaw accident.
The Ohio man had contacted the Ferrell gas company to say he was going to clear some small trees away from the roadway so their truck could make a delivery to his camp.
After the camp owner failed to return to the truck, the Ferrell gas employee went looking for the man and found him on the ground and called 911.
Sheriff’s deputies report it appears the man might have slipped and fell while trying to cut branches overhead.
When he fell, the chainsaw landed on him.
Sheriff’s deputies were assisted by the Michigan department of natural resources, Michigamme/ Spur first responders and bell EMS.
No foul play is expected.
The accident remains under investigation.
