Head On Collision in Sands Township
A head on collision in Sands Township sends a Marquette man to the hospital this afternoon.
The incident occurred just after 4 p–m eastern time at M553 near Oakridge Drive in Dands Township.
Troopers from the Negaunee post of the Michigan State Police say that 49 year old Donald Marquardt of Marquette was traveling Southbound on M553 when his vehicle crossed the center line and collided head on with a Northbound pickup truck driven by 51 year old Steven Balmes also of Marquette.
Marquardt was extricated from the vehicle using the jaws of life.
Both vehicles were totaled in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
