Tigers, Twins make 3-player deal

The Detroit Tigers acquired outfielder Delmon Young from the Minnesota Twins this afternoon for minor league pitcher Cole Nelson and a player to be named later.

Young has struggled this season for the Twins, after he batted .298 and hit 21 home runs last season– he is just batting .266 this season.

The trade between Detroit and Minnesota is the first one since 2001 when Detroit acquired Mark Redman for Todd Jones.
