Mikulich Ruled Not Competent for Trial

A Kingsford man accused of leaving a bomb outside a Detroit federal building 6 months ago has been ruled not competent to stand trial.

43–year–old Gary Mikulich had a competency hearing in Marquette earlier today.

He’s accused of attempting to destroy federal property.

A homemade bomb was found outside the McNamara Federal Building in Detroit in February.

The tool bag that the bomb was found in was traced to the Home Depot store in Iron Mountain.

Mikulich was arrested in March after security cameras linked him to the bag.

He’s being taken to a federal facility for up to 4 months and he’ll have another competency hearing after that.

Our colleagues from the Mining Journal will have more about this for you tomorrow.
