Michigan counties have the right to foreclose on real estate if property taxes have gone unpaid for 3 years.

City of Ishpeming properties up for auction later this month include a duplex on South Third Street and a former commercial space at 201 East Division Street.

Wayne Perry, who was murdered last year, lived in the duplex at the time of his death.

Marquette County treasurer Anne Giroux says the county has about 50% more foreclosed properties for auction later this month than last year.

A downstate company named Title Check handles the auctions.

Marquette, Alger, Delta and Schoolcraft County properties are up for auction on August 29th.

Houghton, Baraga, Ontonagon and Gogebic County properties go up for bids August 27th.
