Yooper Gay Pride Event Holds Auditions

Talent Search Auditions for September 18th Gay Pride event are taking place at the Vista Theater in Negaunee Saturday, July 30th from 2pm – 6pm.

The U.P. Regional Gay Pride Picnic and Rally is planned for Sunday, September 18, 2001 at Presque Isle Park, Marquette. It will be presented by: The Yooper Gay Community Alliance (Y.G.C.A.) – a non-profit organization for the G.L.B.T. community in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and their straight allies and sponsored by:

Yoopergay.net – a GLBT online social network.

The YGCA is looking for talent from all over the U.P. to participate in this historic gay pride event.

This event is open to the public and a $2. donation is suggested at the door. The group is looking for singers, bands, musicians, dancers of all kinds including cloggers and line dancers, jugglers, tumblers, and female or celebrity impersonators.

The audience will get to vote on the talent on a scale of 1-10 and the person who receives the highest score wins $50 cash!

There will also be a 50/50 raffle drawing for some lucky attendee.

Contestants will receive a number based on a first come, first served basis, so if you want to audition early, you should get there early. The last person in line auditions last.

The YGCA is also seeking sponsors and donations to raise money to cover the costs of these events. More information is available at: www.wix.com/ygcalliance/ygca or by calling Steven Vidlund, Director of the YGCA, at: 906-235-5054
