MTU Basketball Player Wins GLIAC Scholarship

A Michigan Tech basketball player has just won a scholarship to help her pay for medical school.
Angela Guisfredi is the women\’s winner of the 2011 GLIAC Postgraduate Scholarship.
It\’s $5,000 in aid for the graduate school of the winner\’s choice.
The Lake Linden–Hubbell grad was also the NCAA Elite 88 Award winner for Division II women\’s basketball this year.
The player at the national Elite Eight with the highest GPA wins that honor.
Guisfredi graduated this past spring with a 3.94 GPA in exercise science.
She also led the GLIAC in 3–point shooting this past season.
Her .504 mark behind the arc set a single-season school record.
Guisfredi and her husband, former Huskies hockey player Mike VanWagner, are both going to medical school at Michigan State this fall.
