U.P. Strongman Competition
The 5th annual Upper Peninsula Strongman Competition is coming up in a couple of weeks, and the event is looking for competitors.
The competition is Saturday, August 6th at Runkle Lake Park in Crystal Falls.
The event begins at noon Central time, and it\’s part of the 20th annual Humungus Fungus Fest, the weekend of events celebrating Iron County\’s oldest and largest living thing.
There are 4 divisions this year — 3 separate weight classes for men and an open women\’s division.
The 50-and-older division from last year has been eliminated.
But a new event has been added — a \’Pick Up Chicks\’ deadlift.
It involves a platform that women will be placed on one at a time, and the object is to deadlift the most weight by being the one lifting the platform when the most women are on top of it.
The contest costs $15 to register in advance or $20 at the door.
