Man Accused of Stupak Threats Claims Insanity

It will be an insanity defense for the man accused of threatening former Congressman Bart Stupak.

The attorneys for 74-year-old Russell Hesch of downstate West Branch filed notice last week in federal court in bay city.

Hesch allegedly wrote a threatening letter to Stupak last year.

The man said he would paint the Mackinac Bridge with Stupak’s blood because of the Congressman’s vote for the health care reform bill.

A hearing was scheduled for today, with a trial set to begin in September.
