Shiras Hill Park Finalist in Online Fund-Raiser

A basketball court at a Marquette park is the latest entry in an online fund-raising attempt. A park in Shiras Hills is one of 26 national finalists in the Sprite Spark Parks Project. If it gets enough support, it could get up to $35,000 in refurbishment grants.

The project aims to build and restore play environments where teens, families and neighbors can get outside and be active. The first phase of the program, which focuses on basketball courts, kicked off in February. Since then, people across the country have logged on to sprite.com and facebook.com/sprite to nominate local courts they wish to receive improvement grants.

The park in Shiras Hills is one of the finalists. Voting is through June 10th, at sprite.com or facebook.com/sprite.
