13th Class of Lake Superior Leadership Academy Graduates

The Lake Superior Leadership Academy has graduated this year’s Academy class. The graduation ceremony Thursday, May 12, 2011, is a a community leadership and professional development program geared toward educating emerging and potential leaders about the inner workings of Marquette County. It also develops business networking and leadership skills.

During the eight-month session, class participants devote at least one day per month touring sites, learning from community leaders and discussing options about Marquette County’s future. They gain access to local and state legislators, tour businesses in Marquette, talk with teachers and school administrators concerning the challenges of education and learn about leadership attributes and team building with Northern Michigan University’s ROTC program.

The program now has more than 250 graduates, many of whom have moved into leadership positions in various community organizations, school boards, local government and event committees throughout Marquette County.

The Lake Superior Leadership Academy is now accepting applications for the 2011-12 class which will begin in October of 2011 and run until May of 2012. The Academy is accepting applications through July 31, 2011.
