Gogebic County Makes ‘Dirty Dozen’ Sewage List

Gogebic County makes the ‘dirty dozen’ list for failing infrastructure.

Gogebic County has accounted for nearly 15 billion gallons of foul, raw or partially treated sewage dumped into rivers, lakes and streams since January.

That’s according to a statewide analysis by the Michigan Infrastructure and Transportation Association.

Communities within Gogebic County discharged approximately 5 million gallons of unapproved sewage into nearby waterways.

One of the largest discharges happened on April 9th.

Wakefield dumped 2.9 million gallons of raw or partially treated sewage into Planter Creek.

Goegbic County appeared as the number 11 villain for sewage discharges.
