Host Families Needed in Marqutte for International Choir Visit

The City of Marquette Arts and Culture Center is seeking families to

host students from the Motala School of Music as a part of the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp International Exchange Program. The group will be visiting Marquette June 23-26, 2011 with 42 students and 3 teachers. They are comprised of a Big Band, String Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble and Folk Music group. Host family applications are due May 1, 2011.

Host families are responsible for getting students to rehearsals, concerts, scheduled activities and arrival/departure location (Lakeview Arena). Host families are also responsible for providing meals and snacks. No other financial obligations are necessary.

Blue Lake is best known for the Fine Arts camp it operates each summer

about six miles east of Whitehall, Michigan. Over 5,500 talented young musicians- mostly from Michigan and other midwestern states- are expected to attend Blue Lake this summer.

Blue Lake’s International Exchange program began in 1969 when a

90-voice choir toured England, Belgium, and Germany.
