Congressman Dan Benishek holds “meet and greet” session in Ishpeming

First District Congressman Dan Benishek is making a swing through the Upper Peninsula this week.

He’s holding “meet and greet sessions” in several locations.

These sessions allow him to meet face to face with local residents

Benishek met this morning with about two dozen people in Ishpeming.

The focus of the event was the federal budget debate.

He told the crowd, and ABC 10, that our economy is still taking a major hit.

And he expressed concerns about the President Obama’s budget plan for the country

Benishek went on to say that with foreign countries controlling 51 percent of the nation’s debt, He’s worried about economic turmoil in other parts of the world putting a financial strain on the U.S.

Budget concerns also were expressed by those in attendance

Benishek will travel through the western U.P.next, with stops in Ontonagon and Ironwood Thursday. On Friday, he will be in Escanaba and Menominee, including a visit to Marinette Marine.
