The Marquette Area Public Schools board has some work of its own on the table.
There are 4 executive search firms they’re checking into for their superintendent search.
One firm that has not yet made a formal presentation to the board has attracted some interest.
That firm is Stang Decision Systems.
It’s a Marquette firm that recently helped the city locate Bill Vajda in its City Manager search.
Stang does not have any experience with a public school superintendent search.
However, it’s helped the Marquette Catholic Diocese find a superintendent for its school system.
No matter which search firm the board uses, they already know about at least one interested candidate.
Interim superintendent Debbie Veiht told the school board several weeks ago that she would like to apply for the post permanently.
Veiht was the assistant superintendent when Jon Hartwig resigned.
Hartwig left the job on November 30th after holding the post since 2004.
